連休前の制作 before holidays

私の大型作品は一点完成。６ヶ月も時間がかかった。

今は乾燥させています。

It took me six months to make this large piece. Completed one,and now letting it dry.

また、別のすでに素焼きしてある作品を親と一緒に車に載せて大学へ向かいました。技官と学生のおかげで無事作品を窯に入れて焼成しました。安定していないので前脚と足のそばに厚めの新聞をクッション代わりに敷きました。

　Brought another pieces, which I’ve already biscuited, with my parents to the university by car, and thanks to the helps of the technical officer and students, I managed to put these into the kiln and fired it. Because they are not very stable, I put a thick layer of newspaper around their forepaws and hind legs as cushions. 

９月は卒業生とグループ展を行うためミニオブジェの制作をした。

I made small works as well to prepare to join a graduate's exhibition in September. 

手前の小さい作品は思い通りの色にならず、肌色になった。思い通りの色になるまで試してみるしかない。

The colour of these small pieces in front are not at all what I intended to make, they became rather like flesh coloured. I will continue trying to get the colour I want to make.

　　　I will select some from the remaining rather nicely coloured ones for the 　　　　exhibition.

第６５回 創型展 The 65th Annual Exhibition of Soukei-Ten

　遅くなりましたが、第６５回創型展に入選しました。これで創型展への参加が２回目入選となりました。今回のグループ展は短い期間です。新しい作品を作るためとても忙しく東京に行けない。
もし東京に住んでいる方々がいれば是非お越しください。

　My work is accepted for the 65th Annual Exhibition of Soukei-Ten. For me, this is the second time to be accepted. But this time, the exhibition period is shorter, and I am rather busy making new works. So I am sorry that cannot go to Tokyo to see the exhibition by myself.

新作品のスタート! Started making new works!

京展が終わっていよいよ新しい作品に挑戦。

After the Kyo-ten was over, I started making new works.

３匹制作して１匹（一番小さいもの）は早くできた。４月に大学の電気窯で素焼焼成した。

I planned to make three dogs, and finished one of them (the smallest one) earlier. So I biscuit fired it with an electric kiln at my alma mater during April.

５月明けに本焼焼成をしました。２匹は大型の作品で時間がかかるので慎重になりながら無事に完成ができるように。

And I did the glost firing of the small dog in early May. Since the other two are large pieces, I need to take more time and continue carefully.

色は目指していたものよりもほんの少し薄い。これを作る前に作成したドローイング（スケッチブックに目指す色合いを色鉛筆で塗ったもの）をモデルにしながら絵付けをしました。オレンジとバナジウム顔料を白化粧の量を考えながら調合してみました。
The color was a bit lighter than I aimed at. I did some drawings on a sketchbook with color pencils to decide my coloring before actually painting, and then made the colorant from orange, vanadium, and engobe.

模型はなんだか怖い目つきのようでもう一度色を塗り焼き直します。

I made a tiny model of the small dog too. But the tiny dog became a bit scary-looking after the glost firing, so I will paint it and do the firing again.

色をテストしてみましたがなかなか難しいようでさらに何回か実験してみたい！

I did some color testing as well, but I'm still having a difficulty with differentiating those colors. I will try again and again!

2016京展「市展・京展80年記念展」2016 Kyo-tenn : 80th Anniversary Exhibition of City & Kyoto Exhibitions

　２月下旬に「京展」作品出展の応募をしました。今日、通知が届いて作品が入選したことを知りました！会期は３月７（火）〜２３日（木）までで、場所は京都市美術館です。ご興味があれば見に来てください。

In late February, I applied my latest work to Kyo-tenn (Kyoto Exhibition).

Today, I received a notice telling me that my work is accepted for the exhibition!

The exhibition is going to be held during 3/7 (Tue) ~ 23 (Thu), at

Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art.

10月の展示 The Exhibition in October

　１０月は陶芸作品グループ展に京都造形芸術大学の卒業生と在学生とともに参加しました。私は今回新しい作品を１点作品を作りました。

　This month I am participating in a ceramic art works exhibition, which is planned and presented by students and graduates of Kyoto University of Art and Design. I have just finished making a new work.

制作は６月から８月まで

It took two months (from June to August) for me to finish this work.

場所は京都市中京区河原町三条下ル一筋目東入ル大黒町44にある「アートゾーン」で行われます。
Currently the exhibition is held at ARTZONE in 44 Daikoku-cho, Kawaramachi Sanjo Sagaru Hitosujime Hairu, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.

昨日から開催スタートです。京都に遊びに来る方はぜひお越しください。

アジア現代陶芸展（台湾・台北市） Contemporary Ceramic Art in Asia exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan, 2016

　６月に大学の先生から卒業生も一緒にと声をかけてもらい、「アジア現代陶芸展」に参加しました。去年制作したお気に入りの作品を出品し、展示は8月20日から國立台灣工藝研發中心の臺北當代工藝設計分館（台北市南海路41號）で開始しました。私は９月１４日（水）に台北行きの飛行機で出発して展示を見に行きました。いとこの結婚式に参加するついでに台北市にいくことができたためです。

　My former advisor at university told me that graduates including me can participate in the Contemporary Ceramic Art in Asia exhibition, so I gladly decided to join it. I chose one of my favorite works I made last year to exhibit. The exhibition was held at Taipei Branch of National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRDI, located in No. 41, Nanhai Rd., 10066 Taipei), starting from 20th August. I myself had the chance to visit Taipei and see it on 14th September (Wednesday), thanks to my cousin's wedding which was going to be held during the same month.

　ここでの展示は11月20日までで、11月26日~2017年１月15日には、展示場が地方工藝館及工藝設計館(南投縣草屯鎮中正路573號)に移動します。

　The exhibition in Taipei will be wrapped up on 20th November, and then it will be held in Craft Hub & Craft Design Hall, of NTCRDI (No. 573, Zhongzheng Rd., 54246 Caotun, Nantou County), from 26th November to 15th January, 2017.

建物の中はプロの作家たちがアトリエで制作しているのが見えた。台湾のアートは大変おもしろい。

Inside the building of Taipei Branch, NTCRDI, we can actually see professional artists executing their works. I think Taiwanese art is very much interesting!

造形の形チェック Checking form of the objet

　模型に当てはまる形を繰り返し確認し、一歩一歩ヒネリをしていく。７/11日（月）の写真。

　These are the photos I took on 11th July, Monday. Presently, I am forming the objet step by step, by modeling the smaller version of the objet I made beforehand. 

　6/17日（金）。制作の前、石膏型で模型用の異形犬の原型を作りました。型の中身に色化粧を２重に塗って鋳込み（液体粘土）を流す。型から外し色化粧がうまくついた部分と剥がれた部分になりました。そんな時、剥がれたところを仕上げに塗る。残りはヘラで磨き大学の窯を利用しながら異形犬の模型を窯詰めして本焼き焼成。
　I made the model from plaster mold, by double-painting engobe inside the mold, and then cast liquid-clay in it. When unmolded, I found some parts were successfully coloured and other parts were not. If this happens, I usually fix these parts by directly painting on them. After rubbing the surface by using a pallet, I borrowed the kiln at my alma mater to do glost firing. These are the photos I took on 17th June, Friday.

　今まで焼成ができた時は色がうまく乗らないで剥がれてました。それは色化粧は空気が含まれているのでいくら塗っても空気が中に残ることがある。今回ヘラを使って中の空気を外に逃がすように磨き押した。模型を丁寧に１匹ずつ増やして個展開催には出品してみたい。
　So far, I have often failed the colouring. Many of my works' engobe tended to come off after glost firing, because some bubbles tend to remain in the engobe no matter how carefully I paint. This is why I used the pallet to rub the surface of the model this time, in order to push these bubbles out from the engobe. I'd like to make more models to prepare for another solo exhibition. 　The weather is so hot these days, but I will work hard to finish this objet.
