11月の個展 Exhibition in November

10/30日（水）に個展販売用の作品を窯詰めしました。

On Wednesday 30th October, I packed the kiln with works to sell at my solo exhibition.

いよいよ11月の個展が近づきました。
今回も京都のギャラリー素で１０日間行います。ずっと在廊する予定です。
京都に遊びに行く方々や近くに住んでいる方はご興味あれば是非お越しください。


 At last, my solo exhibition in November is approaching.
 It will be a 10 days exhibition, which will be held at Gallery Moto in Kyoto again. I am planning to be there during the opening time.

秋の作品作り Working through the Autumn

　"ing展"が終わった後、いつものようにアトリエで作陶を始めました。

このトリセラトプスは８月に作り始めて１０月に出来上がりました。

幼少時代から大好きな恐竜のおもちゃを見ながら作ってみました。

　After the end of "ing" exhibition, I resumed making new pieces at my studio. I have started working on this triceratops in August, and completed it during October, by modeling on my favourite dinosaur toy since my childhood.

教会の知り合いが飼っていた愛犬を作って欲しいと注文をしてくれたので、貸していただいた写真をスケッチして、マグカップの取っ手に小さい犬のオブジェをつけて作りました。

One of the church friends asked me to make a mug with a tiny dog modeled on her previous dog. So I made some sketches of the photos borrowed by her, and made the tiny ceramic dog and put it on the handle of my new mug.

11月の個展に出展するための作品をあと１体仕上げる必要がありました。９月３０日(月）に素焼きをして顔料を塗り足し、釉掛けして１０月１０日(木）に本焼きをしました。

I needed to finish one last piece for my solo exhibition scheduled in November. Biscuited it on 30th September Monday, painted more pigment, glazed, and on 10th October Thursday, glost fired it.

無事、作品が焼き上がりました！

アクセサリーと象嵌のお皿（左は亡き愛犬が、右は２代目の愛犬がモデルです）。

Some jewelries and inlay dishes (the one in the　left is modeled on my late previous dog, and the one in the right is modeled on my present dog).

次の新しい作品に作りかかりました。

And now I have started working on another piece.

ミルクピッチャーとソース用に使えるシリーズを増やしています。

Stocking up more milk or sauce jugs.

ヨーロッパ風の唐草模様付きのお皿で、愛犬のお皿にします。

完成したら芋ケーキを入れてあげたいです。

An European-styled arabesque bowl for my beloved dog. 

I cannot wait to serve a sweet potato cake for her with this bowl!

10月6日(日) ing展の最終日 10/6 (Sun) The last day of "ing exhition"

　この日は搬出とシフト当番のため、家族みんなで車で京都に行きました。
久しぶりに大学の同級生の仲間と新しい仲間にも会ってお話ししたり、お互いに出展しているユニークな器を見つめたり触ったりしました。

　This was the last day of the group exhibition, so I went to Kyoto with my family by car to do some packing and to be at the gallery. It was great to reunite and chat with both uni friends and new friends after such a long time, and also to appreciate and touch all those unique ceramic bowls and cups.

　大学の黒田村での黒田焼作陶体験の時に犬や猫のミニオブジェをつけた壺を作りましたが、今回そのモチーフを思い出しながらマグカップの取っ手に犬を乗せる手法をやってみて正解でした。

When I made these cups with tiny dogs on handles, I was remembering about the small crocks with tiny cats and dogs on them, which I made during my pottery camping experience in Kuroda village organized by the university. It was a good idea!

秋の展示 Autumn Exhibition

　作品作りの忙しさでブログを書く機会が少なくなってきました。

　京都で開催予定のグループ展と個展での出展に向けての新しい作品とマグカップの制作のため、バタバタしています。10月には、h2Oギャラリーで京都造形芸術大学の陶芸コースの卒業生の合同展示“i ng展”が始まります。

　I have been too busy making new works to write a blog entry.

　Lately, I am keeping busy preparing new pieces and mugs for exhibitions (both group and solo) which are going to be held in Kyoto. In October, "ing Exhibition", a group exhibition by the Ceramics Course graduates of Kyoto University of Art and Design, will be held at h2O Gallery.

マグカップの取っ手には犬のミニオブジェがつけてあるので壊れないため

安いスポンジを買ってきて梱包しました。

Tiny dogs are attached to each handles of the mugs, so for the packing, I purchased some cheap sponges and put them on the dogs to protect them.

夏のグループ展 Exhibition in summer

　アトリエで毎日新しい作品をためながら展示活動の予定を立てています。

模型にしたものを見ながら作品を作っても突然形が狂っていくこともあり、難しいと思いました。最近海外のネットで雑種犬の写真を検索して気に入った犬たちを印刷して毛並みと体の作りを観察しています。

　I am planning  to  do some exhibitions and making and stocking up new pieces at my studio day by day. Making monuments by basing on tiny models is difficult, for sometimes the forms can be go wrong suddenly. Recently, I am using the Internet to search for photos of mixed-breed dogs. I print some of my favourite ones out, and use them to observe those dogs' coats and physical structures.

カップの取っ手の上に犬が乗っている形をとるのが大好きです。

アトリエができた頃からカップをたくさん作る計画を始めました。

I like putting tiny dogs on the handles of my cups.

After the completion of my studio, I started to plan to make many cups.

 今回もギャラリー菊で「真夏のアートフェスティバル」に作品出展します。

I will join the "Midsummer Art Festival" which is going to be held at Gallery KIKU again.

５月の展示会 Exhibition in May

 もうすぐ「創型展」の展示がはじまります。４月は出展する作品が出来るまでDMを配らるのを控えていましたが、作品が出来上がったのでさっそくDMを配りました。

 The annual Soukei Exhibition is starting very soon. During April, I was still making my work to exhibit, so I did not distribute direct mails. But now the work is done so I waisted little time in sending them out!

 東京にお住いの方や彫刻にご興味のある方、東京都美術館に遊びに行く予定がある方は是非お越しください。

 Do please pop in to see the exhibition, especially if you are living in Tokyo, interested in sculptures, or planning to visit Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum!

１月から３月にかけての作陶 Works done between January and March

　2014年に個展をした時に知り合ったKさんという方から、フランスへの出張時に見つけられた葉書をいただいたことがあります。このお手紙は帽子をかぶったロバのクラフトとなっています。

　Mr K, with whom I have acquainted when I was doing my solo exhibition in 2014, once sent me a postcard he found in France on his business trip. The postcard is at the same time a paper craft kit, of a tiny hatted donkey. 

　いただいてからだいぶ時間が経っていたこともあり、早速ハサミで切り、ロバを組み立てました。

　For it has been a while after I received the postcard, I wasted little time cutting and making the donkey. 

１月に新作が一体完成

I have finished one new piece in January

公民館で窯出しした絵付けテストピースの器は、色が少しぼやけてしまいました。

The painted test piece I did firing with the community centre kiln turned out to be a bit blurry. 

アクセサリーの石膏型をもう一つ作りました。

I made another plaster mould for making accessories. 

久しぶりにデッサンをしましたが、ちょっと下手な感じになりました。

I did some drawing for the first time in a long time, and I feel my skill got rusty a bit. 

現在は、もう一つの作品を体のパーツを分けた状態で制作しています。

I am making another piece part by part at the moment.

また、上に書きました新しい石膏型を使ってのアクセサリーの押し型作業も始めました。型から取り外した後、陶土が乾燥しないうちに色化粧を塗って色が剥がれないようにヘラで押します。

Also, I started to make impressions of accessories with the aforementioned plaster mould. After putting out the clay from the mould, quickly put engobe before the clay goes dry, and gently push it with a shaft so that the colour won’t fall off.
