第6回京都府立堂本印象美術館が開催してから1ヶ月となりました。5月に第69回創型展に出展する作品を段ボールに詰めて東京へ発送しました。
It’s been one month since the start of the 6th Annual Open-Air Sculptural Exhibition at Kyoto INSHO-DOMOTO Museum of Fine Arts. Meanwhile, I boxed and sent my latest artworks to Tokyo to exhibit them at the 69th Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten the month.
4月に本焼焼成後、窯出しした作品には失敗と成功がありました。陶器アクセサリーのインコに支えをつけて焼きましたが、アルミナを塗ることで、作品と支えがくっつかないように対策しました。しかし、焼成すると釉薬がくっついて外せなくなり、ハンマーで叩くと壊れてしまいました。
Some of my April glost-fired artworks are successful, but others didn’t go well. I glost-fired this parrot-shaped accessory on top of a support, applying some alumina coat to prevent them from sticking together. However, after the glost-firing, the two got totally glued together! When I tried to detach them by softly hitting them with a hammer, the parrot got broken.
シープドッグの小さな作品は釉ハゲになってしまいました。失敗の原因は窯の温度が300度になる前に蓋を急いで閉めすぎたためだと思います。インコのアクセサリーは逆さまになる支え構成を作り対策しようと考えています。シープドッグは５匹揃うように作り直しました。
Glaze didn’t come out well with the tiny sheepdogs. I’m guessing that the cause of this problem is that I closed the lid of the kiln too early (before the temperature got to 300ºC). I’m planning to make the parrot upside-down to make its contact face with the support as small as possible when I glost-fire it the next time. And I made another five tiny sheepdogs.
今回は東京へ行く時のお土産ブローチを持っていくつもりです。大型作品の胴体をつなげる作業にかかり、水中ボンドでくっつけて今はタオルと椅子で作品を支えて固まるまで待っているところです。
I’m planning to take some souvenir brooches to Tokyo. Now, I’m assembling a larger piece, using epoxy bond to glue several pieces, supported them with towels and chairs and now am waiting for them to set.

Now that the holiday season has ended, I’d like to inform you that I’m coming back to the Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten (the 69th this time) this month.
