第72回創型展 The 72nd Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten

 いよいよ第72回創型展が近づきました。風は涼しくても暑さは夏となりました。

今回も東京都美術館にて新作品を出展します。

The 72nd Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten is almost here. While the breeze is nice and cool, the heat is getting like that of summer. Once more, I’m exhibiting my latest artwork at the exhibition, which is going to be held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

第50回記念京都彫刻家協会展の最終日 The Last Day of the 50th Exhibition of Association of Sculptors in Kyoto

 5月10日(日）は第50回記念京都彫刻家協会展の最終日のため、父と母、愛犬も一緒に岡山から京都までドライブしました。まだ夏ではないけれど太陽の暑さは半端ないです！夕方の4時過ぎに京都に到着し、父と母は教会の友だちに会いに行き、私は作品の搬出のため京都文化会館に行きました。

私は搬入に来ることができなかったため、作品は他の参加者によってセッティングされ、しっかり固定していただいていました。作品たちを眺めながら初めて会う彫刻家の方たちと会話する機会ができました。最後に彫刻家たちと写真を撮ってから搬出作業にかかり、作品の脚と耳、口を柔らかい紙で包み、箱に入れて隙間にスポンジを詰めました。荷物をプラスチックの結束バントで固定する時、柏木さんの親友の彫刻家さんに手伝っていただきました。挨拶をした後に岡山へ帰りました。

The 10th May (Sunday) was the last day of “The 50th Exhibition of Association of Scupltures in Kyoto,” so me, my parents, and our dog went to Kyoto from Okayama by car. The summer hasn’t arrived yet but it the sun ray was unbelievably hot! We arrived in Kyoto a little past four in the afternoon. My parents went to see our church friend while I went to Kyoto Prefectural Centre for Arts and Culture, to pick up my art piece. 

As I couldn’t personally come to set up my art piece, it was done so by my co-exhibitors, securely fixed to the stand. I greatly enjoyed all those artworks by other sculptors, and it was lovely to be able to have some chats with some of those I met for the first time. Before we started packing, we took a souvenir photo together. Then, I carefully wrapped my work’s legs, ears, and muzzle with soft paper, put it into a box and stuffed some sponges into the gaps. When I was tying the box with some plastic zip ties, a friend of my friend Midori Kashiwaki helped me. After saying goodbye, we headed back to Okayama.

 

5月の展示のおしらせ Group Exhibition in May

先日は京都に行く機会ができて楽しかったです。5月から再び京都で「第50回記念京都彫刻家協会展」というグループ展に参加することとなりましたのでお知らせします。

It was great to visit Kyoto the other day, and this month I’m going to have another group exhibition in the city, “The 50th Exhibition of Association of Sculptors in Kyoto.”

4月28日(火）京都に行った日 28th April - A Visit to Kyoto

 4月28日(火）　私と母は朝早く京都に向かいました。まずは第9回堂本印象美術館野外彫刻展を見に来ました。幸い天気が良かったので、ゆっくり作品を鑑賞できました。

それから母の友だちと会ってランチをしました。次は私の友人の柏木みどりさんの遺作展を見にいきました。この日は初日でした。岡山にいる間に柏木さんのご主人から展示のお便りを受け取り、是非見に行きたいと決めたのでした。遺作展に来ていた柏木さんの友人で彫刻家の方とお話しする機会ができてとても嬉しかったです。

On 28th April (Tue) I headed out to Kyoto with my mom early in the morning. First we went to see “The 9th Annual Open-Air Sculptural Exhibition” at Kyoto Prefectural INSHO-DOMOTO Museum of Fine Arts. Fortunately, the weather was lovely so we greatly enjoyed the exhibition.

Next up we met up and enjoyed lunch together with my mom’s friend, before going to see my friend Midori Kashiwaki’s posthumous exhibition. I and my mom decided to come and see her works when I received the direct mail from her husband. It was lovely to be able to chat with other sculptors who also knew her.
