すでに6月になってしまいましたが、5月21日(木)に飛行機で東京に行き、東京都美術館で開催中の第71回創型展を見に行きました。東京に滞在していた間には友だちたちと親戚も会いに来てくれました。会場では私の作品に興味を持ってくれた来場者の方たちにその場で説明したり、創型会の仲間たちとお話ししたりする機会が得られました。
June has come now but I’d like to write about the trip to Tokyo I made last month: On 21st May (Thurs.), I flew to Tokyo to see the 71st Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. During my stay in the city, friends and relatives visited me, and I had such a lovely opportunity to chat with visitors who took interest in my art pieces, and catching up with other artists exhibiting there.
展示作品の中には、私が8年前に知り合った京都の彫刻家の柏木みどりさんの作品もありました。5月の初めに、柏木さんが突然逝ってしまったという知らせを受けて、とても悲しく寂しく感じています。この方は私が創型展に初めて応募し、入選していただいた時から親しい仲となりました。この方の強い意志に私も勇気づけられてきました。これからも今まで通り進んでいきたいと思います。
A few of the exhibited art pieces are made by a sculptor based in Kyoto, Midori Kashiwagi, with whom I met eight years ago. In early May, I was devastated to learn that she passed away unexpectedly. She had been so nice to me and such an inspiration for me ever since I first applied to join Soukei-ten and my art piece had been chosen for the exhibition. I will never forget her steadfast support for me and will continue to do my best as ever.
