岡山へ戻ってきて３年が経ちました。これまでに岡山ではエキチカアーティスト応援プログラムに参加させてもらい、友だちを案内して作品のお話をしたり、また通りかかりの人で犬に興味持っている方に作品を見てもらいました。
3 years has passed since I came back to Okayama and so far, I have had several opportunities to join Ekichika Artist Support Program, through which I could gladly introduce my works to friends, and passers-by who got interested in my ceramic dogs.
この間に岡山市にあるギャラリーで個展を開催するための準備も進め、インターネットで色々なギャラリーの案内を調べました。その中の一つに「ギャラリー108」というものがあり、そのWebページには、私が中学生だった頃にお世話になった美術の先生の名前が載っていました。早速メールで問い合わせてみると、何と先生がギャラリーのオーナーでした。その後、ギャラリーに先生を訪ねて久しぶりにお話しすることができ、また私のアトリエを案内することもできました。
Meanwhile, I have been also looking for an opportunity to do a solo exhibition at a gallery in Okayama city, and looked up information of various galleries. On the web page of one of those galleries, called “Gallery 108”, I saw the name of my art teacher back in my junior high school days. I promptly contacted the gallery and Lo! my art teacher is the owner of the gallery! Thus I visited him at his gallery and chatted with him for the first time in a long while and also invited and showed him my studio.
その後、先生から企画展の誘いの声がかかりました。はじめて岡山のギャラリーで個展ができることになり、嬉しくなりました。企画展のDMを作るため作品を５体芝生に並べて撮影しました。かっこいい並び方の作品写真を撮るのは難しく、しばらく試行錯誤し、最後は先生も一緒に作品の配置を手伝ってくれました。二人で話し合いをしながら写真撮影にかかり、いい写真ができました！見る人の興味を惹くような良い作品写真を撮るということについて、大切な勉強になりました。
After a while, my teacher invited me to do a special exhibition at his gallery. I’m so glad that this opportunity to do my very first solo exhibition in Okayama city was given to me like this. To design the special exhibition’s DM, I arranged 5 of my pieces on the grass and photographed them. It was very difficult to take a shot cool enough and I struggled for a while. In the end, my teacher joined me arranging the pieces and after much discussions and many photo shoots, we finally got a nice shot! In this process, I learnt so much about the importance of capturing the charm of art pieces.
