チャリティー展準備と開催 “New Cultural Standards Okayama” - A Charity Exhibition

2月の本焼き焼成が終わった後、立ち姿の異形犬と腰に体重を置く異形犬コンビ、地べた異形犬を両方制作しています。

After finishing the glost firing of February, I’ve been making three Heteromorphic dogs: A standing one and another one putting their paws on the former, as well as the one coming to their feet.

立ち姿の異形犬はお腹と４本の脚と腰までできました。しかし、この立ち姿の異形犬の腰までの高さが38センチになってしまい、もしももう一点の異形犬を合わせるとなんと窯の高さを越してしまうことがわかりました！このため、もう一度、お腹の支えを20センチまで縮め、４本脚の高さを変更しました。とりあえずそれは試行錯誤としておいておき、先にこの異形犬二匹組の模型と、地べた異形犬から作ることにしました。

I made belly, four legs, and lower back of the standing one. But then I noticed that its height up till its lower back is already 38cm and if I add another Heteromorphic dog (which is going to put their paws on the first one’s back), the entire piece’s hight is going to be higher than what my kiln can contain! So I had to redo, and this time I made the belly stilt 20cm high, and stopped after finishing 4 legs. Then I move on to make a model of this duo, and the rising up dog first.

現在は「New Cultural Standards Okayama チャリティー展」というグループ展に参加しています。会場は、去年7月に個展を開催したGallery108です。

I am now participating in a group exhibition titled “New Cultural Standards Okayama Charity Exhibition”. The venue is Gallery108, the one where I did my solo exhibition July last year.

4日(金）にはGallery108に行き、展示セッティングの作業を行い、恩師（ギャラリーのオーナー）からアドバイスをいただきながら異形犬キャンディーポットと犬マグカップ、犬フェーブをバラバラの配置で並べたました。作品の下にサンプルの箱たちも置きました。

On March 4th (Friday), I visited the gallery to do some setting up, and my teacher (who is also the owner of the gallery) gave me some advices on how to arrange my Heteromorphic dog-themed small pieces - such as candy-pots, mugs, king cake trinkets. I also put some packing-boxes below my pieces as samples.

このイベントは岡山市の文化の振興を目指し、新しく公立の美術施設を設置することを提案している「NCS.OKAYAMA」の活動を支援するために開かれています（現在岡山市の公立美術施設は岡山県立美術館一つのみです）。このため、提案に賛同するアーティストたちの絵画、洋画、彫刻、書、ガラス、木工などの作品を展示販売しています。地元でアート活動ができる場の良さを周りの人たちに伝えたいと思います。

This event aims to support the campaign of “NCS. OKAYAMA”, for a promotion of culture in Okayama city through the establishment of a new public art facility (at the moment we have only one which is Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art). Therefore, various types of paintings, sculptures, calligraphies, glass arts, woodworking pieces created by the artists who support the idea of NCS. OKAYAMA are exhibited and sold. I also hope that many people see the benefit of having a local place where everyone can interact through arts.

The Exhibition started today (5th March). It’s such a lovely small museum where you can enjoy both paintings and sculptures, so if you happen to be in around the area please pop in and have a look!

2月の本焼き焼成　Glost firing in February

2月21日(月)に早めに作品たちを窯詰しました。23日(水）に電気窯に電源を入れて本焼き焼成を行いました。

I put my pieces into the kiln in advance on the 21st Feb (Mon) and switched it on and glost fired them on the 23rd (Wed).

24日(木）は窯出しにかかり、作品たちは成功と失敗も含まれていました。

Out from the link on 24th (Thu) and I found that some pieces went well but there are some failures too.

異形犬(いけいいぬ）は無事できあがり、フェーブたちは５点失敗したのでそれらをサンプルにします。もう一度するときにはうまく行きますように！
残り５点は成功でした！

Heteromorphic dog went well but 5 of my king cake trinkets went badly, so I’m going to keep them as samples. Hopefully I can do better next time!
The remaining 5 trinkets were success!

キャンディーポットは成功したのはたったの２点です。ほかのものには器の口元にヒビができてしまいました。
それはロクロの成形をしたときに、縁の立ち上がりの角度が不均一になっていたためということがわかりました。

Only two of my candy pots went well. Others have cracks around their mouthes. I learnt that the cause of this problem is the unevenness in the angle of the openings of these pots.

バター容器は黒猫の取っ手付きにしました。

I put a black cat handle to my butter dish this time.

私はひねりとロクロの作業に集中することが多く絵付けはほとんどしていません。絵付の参考書を読んで復習し、乳鉢に５グラムのDゴスと水を入れて完全に溶ける状態まで潰し、サンプルの素焼きのお皿に2匹の愛犬の絵を描いてみました。絵皿の場合、本焼き前に透明釉に一瞬つけて引き上げます。本焼きした結果輪郭線がはっきり見えました。

I tend to concentrate on hand-moulding and throwing pot and rarely do the painting. So I rubbed up my memory by reading some reference books on painting, and dissolved 5 gram of pigment with water, and painted my two dogs on an unglazed dish for a try. I quickly glazed it with translucent glaze before gloss firing. And the result was pretty clear picture and lines.

茶色釉薬は水量を減らして完全に原料が溶けるように攪拌、お皿に1回つけてまた２度掛けし、うまく光沢感を出すことができました。

Prepared brown glaze with less water, mixed well till all the pigment are completely dissolved, and glazed the dishes twice, which resulted in the shiny texture just as I wanted.

愛犬２匹の新作キャンドルスタンドを作りました。

I made a new tea light holder with my two beloved dogs.

創型会秋季展、野外彫刻展、京都府立植物園彫刻小品展 The Soukeikai Sculpture Exhibition, Kyoto Open-Air Sculpture and Small-Scaled Sculptures Exhibitions

ますます冬らしく寒くなってきました。第43回創型会秋季展は無事終わりました。開催期間中に田中八重洲画廊に在廊していた作家方が写真撮影してくれ、それらを会場に来られない作家にEメールで送ってくれました。

It’s getting wintry and colder now. The 43rd Annual Soukeikai Sculpture Autumn Exhibition has ended soundly. During the exhibition, those artists who were at the venue, Tanaka Yaesu Gallery took photos and sent them to the artists via email who couldn’t visit there.

24日(水）に作品が戻ってきて、今回は無事に展示を終えることができました。

また来年創型展ができれば参加したいです。

My piece returned on 24th and thus I managed to soundly installed and concluded the exhibition. I hope I can join the next Annual Soukei Sculpture Exhibition too.

12月は2回目の京都府立植物園で京都野外彫刻展を開催します。私は第5回植物園彫刻小品展にて12月11日(土）当番９時～１３時まで植物園会館1階展示室にいます。他の作家の皆さんの新作を見ることも楽しみにしています。

The Kyoto Open-Air Sculpture Exhibition will be held in December and this is going to be my second time joining this exhibition. I am also going to be around at the 1st floor of the Kyoto Botanical Gardens Visitor Centre, the venue of the 5th Exhibition of Small-Scale Sculptures, on 11th December between 9:00am and 1:00pm. I’m looking forward to seeing other artists’ pieces.

第43回　創型会秋季展　 The 43rd Annual Soukeikai Sculpture Autumn Exhibition

　コロナ感染拡大のため第68回創型展が中止になった後、今回第43回彫刻創型会秋季展に参加できるようになりました。小さな作品と本体作品を制作している間、創型会から11月に田中八重洲画廊に出展できると誘っていただきました。創型会は5月に東京都美術館で、11月に田中八重洲画廊で展示イベントを行います。今回、初めて会友として参加できることになり嬉しいです。最近岡山のギャラリー１０８で出展していた新作品を出してみます。

　After the 68th Annual Soukei Sculpture Exhibition this year was cancelled due to the pandemic, I learnt that I can join the 43rd Annual Soukeikai Sculpture Autumn Exhibition instead. I have been producing some small pieces and several larger works, and one day, Soukeikai contacted me to ask if I would like to join their exhibition at Tanaka Yaesu Gallery in November. Usually, Soukeikai holds its summer exhibition at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in May, and autumn one at Tanaka Yaesu Gallery in November. I’m so happy to be able to join the autumn exhibition for the first time as their fellow member. I am going to exhibit one of my new pieces which I showed at Gallery 108 in Okayama.

異形犬たちが遊ぶ「みんな個性派」三野惠子　陶造形作品展の開催開始！　 My Solo Exhibition ‘Heteromorphic Dogs Playing “Everyone is Different” KEIKO MINO CERAMICS’ has Started!

７月半ばからいよいよ岡山市のGallery108での企画展の準備が近づきました。京都で発表した異形犬と最近作った異形犬作品を出展します！父と母、私は二回に分けてに分けて作品を車に詰めて運びました。

As the opening day of my solo exhibition in mid July got near, dad, mum, and me drove twice to bring my works to exhibit, which include the pieces I previously exhibited in Kyoto and those I made recently!

作品をそろえてからは、初期のものから今のものへというように異型犬の変遷を時期に沿って配置することにしてみました。今回の展示部屋は広い空間で、立体の作品をどういう形でバランスを捉えるかで悩み、そこで先生は展示台を持ってきて横方面と縦方面の構造を作り、作品がうまくバランスがとれるような形を創り出しました！展示台にのせる異形犬と床に置く異形犬を組み分けました！

After bringing in all the pieces, I tried to arrange them in chronological order, from the older pieces to the later ones. As the venue this time is quite spacious, I struggled to find out how to balance all those 3D models. Then my teacher brought in some exhibit booths, created both horizontal and vertical structures inside the room, which helped me arranging all those pieces in a good balance! I put some of my heteromorphic dogs on the booths and arranged others on the floor!

私は今までは展示台を並べて作品をのせる形だけを考えていましたが、はじめて先生から迫力のある作品配置方法を教えていただきました！

Until now, I have simply put my works on top of booths. This time though, I learnt how I can arrange my pieces more dynamically through a method as such!
